Amy Smotherman-Burgess is a 1998 graduate of Western Kentucky University’s Photojournalism program. Amy is returning for her thirteenth year of Mountain Workshop, eleventh year as a staff volunteer. After interning with the Troy Daily News in Ohio, she spent two years as a photojournalist at the South Bend Tribune. For the past nine years Amy has been on staff with the Knoxville News Sentinel in Tennessee. Since moving back to her home state she married sports writer Mark Burgess and had her beautiful two year-old daughter Avery.
