Meanwhile, back at the workshop…

While photography students at the Mountain Workshops scrambled around Calloway County taking pictures from dawn to dusk, a very different group of visual journalists finished fieldwork and began the final phase of documentary projects.

It’s called the multimedia workshop, where eight participants were learning the latest techniques of visual storytelling and the art of building a narrative using a mix of still photography, audio and video.

The process of editing and creating a project with complex software is so time consuming that content gathering needs to be very focused and limited during a five-day workshop. On this day, Day Three of the five-day workshop, students were already editing their stories.
