Hello Murray, we're getting to know you
Thirty-one photojournalists picked their story subjects from a hat early Tuesday afternoon and hit the streets -- notebooks and cameras in hand -- to document five days in the life of Murray, Ky. , and the surrounding villages and farms of Calloway County.
It was Day One of the 2009 Mountain Workshops of Western Kentucky University, now in their 34th year, and one of the most important days for the shooters, who were meeting their photo subjects for the first time. Workshop students are expected to spend the rest of week with their subjects, creating visual documentaries.
On hand Tuesday to offer advice and encouragement were workshop co-founder Mike Morse and longtime photo coach Dave LaBelle.
